“The 7th Taima-no-sato Botan Festival Photo Contest” – Anyone can enter, no matter if you are a pro or an amateur!

The Taima-no-sato Botan Festival brings splashes of color to Katsuragi City every spring.

A contest for photographs taken at Taimaji Temple and Sekkoji Temple, two flower temples where botan peony flowers bloom beautifully, will be held.

Anyone can enter, no matter if you are a pro or an amateur.

Feel free to apply if you like taking photographs, if you like flowers, if you’d like to try participating in a photography contest, or for any other reason. We’re looking forward to receiving many entries.

We invite you to join us and capture a special photograph with your camera. We look forward to seeing your wonderful creations!

Theme

“Botan peonies and tree peonies”

Photographs must be taken at either Taimaji Temple or Sekkoji Temple during the Taima-no-sato Botan Festival (April 13 – May 6, 2025), and must include botan peonies/tree peonies.

*Photographs must be unpublished. However, photographs that have not been published alongside an evaluation from a third party may be submitted.

Submission period

April 13, 2025 (Sunday) – must arrive no later than May 20, 2025 (Tuesday)

Prizes

Grand Prize (1) Katsuragi City specialty products worth ¥10,000, original QUO card worth ¥10,000
Excellence Prize (2)Katsuragi City specialty products worth ¥5,000, original QUO card worth ¥5,000
Special Prize (4)Original QUO card worth ¥5,000

*The original QUO cards will be created using the winning entries.

  Attach the submission form to the back of your photograph and bring it to either of the following locations.

  ・Kehayaza Sumo Museum
   (83-1 Taima / weekends and holidays, 10:00 a.m.~4:00 p.m.)

Taima-no-sato Botan Festival

Taimaji Temple and Sekkoji Temple, both renowned as flower temples, are filled with blooming botan peonies and tree peonies from mid-April to early May every year.

When the peonies are in bloom, bonbori paper lanterns are set up along the approach to Taimaji Temple and around Sekkoji Temple to create a festive atmosphere.
