Fireworks Highlights

This year’s theme is “Opening Japan to the World, Cultural Exchange, and Bridging the Past with the Future.” As the fireworks light up the Yokosuka sky, the show reflects the city’s rich history and its forward-looking spirit. The grand finale features a breathtaking launch of 10,000 fireworks in total, choreographed by Marugo, one of Japan’s leading fireworks companies. Don’t miss the awe-inspiring “shaku-dama” (large shell fireworks) or the dramatic diagonal launches that only a seaside location can offer!

What is “shaku-dama”?

“Shaku-dama” (尺玉) refers to large shell fireworks with a diameter of about 30 cm (1 foot). These fireworks are known for their massive explosions, creating dazzling effects that can reach up to 300 meters in the sky.
