The “35th Yokosuka City West: Summer Fireworks Festival” wraps up Yokosuka’s summer fireworks season on August 31, 2024, at the JGSDF Camp Takeyama. The event attracts large crowds each year, and the grand finale of star mines is a spectacular highlight!

Event Schedule

4:30 PM: Opening of the base

5:00 PM – 5:10 PM: Taiko Drum Performance by Takao High School

5:00 PM – 5:50 PM: Musical Performance

6:30 PM: Greeting by the Organizers

6:15 PM – 7:15 PM: Bon Odori (Traditional Dance)

7:15 PM – 7:25 PM: Takeyama Self-Defense Force Taiko Drum Performance

7:15 PM – 8:00 PM: Fireworks Display

9:00 PM: Closing of the base

Access: JGSDF Camp Takeyama

From Keikyu Line Misakiguchi Station

Take the “Yokosuka City Hospital” bus (approx. 20 minutes). Get off at Hayashi Bus Stop, then walk for about 5 minutes.

From JR Yokosuka Line Yokosuka Station

Take the “Yokosuka City Hospital,” “Sajima Marina Entrance,” or “Nagai” bus (approx. 50 minutes). Get off at Hayashi Bus Stop, then walk for about 5 minutes.

From JR Yokosuka Line Kinugasa Station

From Kinugasa Crossroad, take the “Yokosuka City Hospital,” “Sajima Marina Entrance,” or “Nagai” bus (approx. 30 minutes). Get off at Hayashi Bus Stop, then walk for about 5 minutes.

Please use public transportation as there is no dedicated parking.
Pets are not allowed, and drones are prohibited.

About JGSDF Camp Takeyama: A Unique Defense Hub in Kanagawa

Takeyama Sub Base, located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is the only Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) base in the prefecture. Uniquely, it is situated in an area where units from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) are also present, making it one of the few locations in Japan where all three branches of the Self-Defense Forces coexist.
