On October 27th, 2024 (Sunday), Y! Festa Oppama 2024 will take place at the Natsushima Ground and other locations. Come and enjoy a fun-filled day packed with activities for the whole family!

The full-scale, 9-meter-tall AV-98 Ingram from the popular anime Mobile Police Patlabor will make an impressive deck-up appearance in Oppama, providing fans with a rare and thrilling experience. Additionally, the event will feature a special live-action show by the local hero group Bakujou Sentai Bunbunger, as well as stage performances by popular Japanese comedians TAIGA and Pekopa.

Visitors can also enjoy a hands-on experience at Nissan’s Oppama Plant, savor delicious food at the ‘Oishii Shoku Yokocho’ (food alley) featuring Yokosuka’s best restaurants, which brings together Yokosuka’s best restaurants, and explore the rare, special opening of the Dai-San Kaibou fortress. With so many family-friendly activities, this event promises to be a day to remember!

Whats’s Patlabor?

The Mobile Police Patlabor franchise is a groundbreaking media mix that spans multiple forms of entertainment, including anime, manga, films, and video games. Starting as a manga and OVA series in 1988, Patlabor takes place in a near-future Tokyo where robots known as “Labors” are used for construction, public safety, and military purposes. The series follows the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicles Section 2 as they battle rogue Labors using their own AV-98 Ingram units.

One of the most notable elements of the franchise is the involvement of acclaimed director Mamoru Oshii, who brought his visionary storytelling to the Patlabor animated films. Patlabor 2: The Movie in particular is celebrated for its complex political themes and introspective approach to military and social conflict, solidifying its place as a masterpiece in anime history.

In addition to the animated films, Patlabor expanded into live-action with THE NEXT GENERATION – Patlabor –, which culminated in the film Tokyo War, directed by Oshii himself. Take the free shuttle bus service running from the area near the Oppama Branch of the North Fire Station.

A free shuttle bus will run to and from the venue of Y! Festa Oppama 2024. The temporary bus stop is located about a 10-minute walk from Oppama Station, heading toward the seaside. It is near the large intersection with the pedestrian bridge.

Please note that the number of shuttle buses is limited, and there may be waiting times during busy periods. We recommend arriving with plenty of time to ensure you can board the bus.
