Tamba Kameyama Castle
The castle was built in 1577 by Mitsuhide Akechi. In 1610, during the reign of Nagamori Okabe, the castle building and castle town were almost completed.
Although the castle was demolished by the Ordinance for Disposal of Castles after the Meiji Restoration*, a religious corporation Ohmoto, the present owner of the castle, restored stone walls.
It is now possible for visitors to imagine how the castle looked back then.
If you wish to view the castle, please contact the general reception of the headquarters of Ohmoto.
* Meiji Restoration: it brought about the final demise of the Tokugawa shogunate, thus ending the Edo era (1603–1867). it is also called the Meiji Revolution and it led to enormous changes in Japan's political and social structure.
