Exhibition of 400 kites from around the world
The Ikazaki area is famous for its 400-year tradition of giant kite battles, where competitors coat kite strings with blades, attempting to cut each other’s lines to determine the winner. The Kite Museum in this area features approximately 400 kites from Japan and abroad. The highlight of the exhibit is a massive 7-meter-tall and 6-meter-wide kite used in these battles. Visitors can also enjoy kite-making workshops (reservation required) or borrow a kite for free to fly along the nearby riverbank.
