Chokyuji Temple
There are various theories regarding the foundation of this temple, which is famous as a place to view hydrangeas, but the book kept at the repository of the temple says that it was founded by Gyoki on the orders of Emperor Shomu.
The main hall, which still has a wooden tag called munafuda with year 2 of the Koan era (1279 C.E.) inscribed on it, is a valuable asset representative of the temple architecture of the Kamakura era and the only structure in Ikoma city designated as a national treasure.
As the principal image, it enshrines a wooden eleven-faced Kannon statue.
The eleven-faced Kannon statue was created together with a black lacquerware feretory during the Kamakura era and has been designated as a national important cultural asset.
