Tawara Furusato Park
Tawara Furusato Park is located in the east district of Hadano city, where there is the Kubizuka (mound for Severed Head) of Minamoto no Sanetomo.
Legend has it that the head of Sanetomo (the third Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate) was entombed here.
The park is also surrounded by medieval historic sites including Kongo-ji, Dainichi-do, and the Hadano Castle ruins.
There is abundant nature in the area as well, beginning with Yabitsu Pass and Shizenkansatsu no Mori (“forest for observing nature”).
The Furusato Denshokan, a two-story wooden building, houses a farmer’s market, a soba restaurant, a soba dojo, and a pickle making facility.
A watermill for making soba flour stands in the park, creating a serene, rural atmosphere.
