Kasado Hall 傘堂

Kasado Hall

Kasado Hall is located on the east side of Oike Pond in Shinzaike Katsuragi city.
It was built by the close vassals of Masakatsu Honda, a feudal lord in the Edo period (1603-1868), and farmers in the community as Eido (a mausoleum) to pray for the repose of his soul.
It is an object worshipped by common people who wish for a peaceful death.
The building is called Kasado (umbrella hall in Japanese) because the shape looks like a paper umbrella; a square pillar stands in the center, capped by a pyramidal tiled roof.
