Chogakuji Temple
This temple, known for its flowers and cultural properties, was originally founded by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in 824.
Through the main gate and along the gravel path sits the oldest and most beautiful bell tower gate in Japan, as well as an Amitabha triad statue set, which is one of the oldest of its kind in Japan.
This extensive, peaceful site that sits at around 40,000 square meters in size, and the fragrance of flowers fills the air all throughout the year.

The temple is well known for its gorgeous fall foliage, and it's considered to be one of the top 100 sites for fall colors in Japan.
