A coast with a beautiful arc
Yumigahama is a white sand beach located the southernmost point of the Izu Peninsula and extends about 1 km; it is a coast with a beautiful arc as its name suggests in Japanese.
Pine trees planted along the sand beach make a beautiful contrast with the white sand.
They also intercept the surrounding noises, allowing everyone to enjoy the nice sound of the waves.
There are no big rocks on the beach, and the beach is protected by two capes on the left and right sides, which helps to block waves coming from the open ocean from entering. Therefore this shoaling beach with calm waves is perfect for swimming.
Lifesavers are stationed on the beach during the high-season, so families with young children can also safely enjoy sea bathing. Many sea-bathers flock to this beach each summer.
Every year on August 8th, the “Yumigahama Sea Fireworks Festival” is held, and during the last week of August a “Beach Volleyball Tournament” is also held, making the beach livelier because of all the visitors from all over Japan.
