Gifu Great Buddha
The Gifu Great Buddha is considered one of the "Three Great Buddhas of Japan" along with the Great Buddha statues of Nara and Kamakura, and is the largest dry-lacquered Buddha statue in Japan.
The statue, which boasts 13.7 meters in height, was completed in 1832 after taking 38 years to finish. The serene expression of the Buddha's smile soothes the soul.
