Myokenzan-Yutenji Temple
The Yutenji Buddhist temple, was founded in 1718, at the time of the death, and in accordance with the wishes of Yuten Shonin by his younger brother, Yukaiojin.
It is also a station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line.
The main gate was donated in 1735 by Takehime, the adopted daughter of the 5th Shogun Tsunayoshi.
It still retains its original appearance, with no major changes to its detailed design.
The "Kasane Mound" to the right of the Niomon Gate is a reference to the Kabuki dance "Iromochiyo Kari Mame".
The temple is also known for its association with the Edo fire brigade.
According to one theory, when Yuten Shonin was the chief priest of Zojoji, he established a fire-fighting organisation, which became the prototype for the Edo fire-fighters.
There are many carvings of wreaths here and there in the temple, such as on the offering box in front of the main hall and on the ceiling in the Jizo Hall.
