Himonya-hachiman Shrine
The Himonya-hachiman Shinto shrine of the former Himonya village is dedicated to Emperor Ojin.
Miyano Sakon of Himonya village enshrined the guardian deity of Hatakeyama Shigetada, a chief vassal of Minamoto no Yoritomo. in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) .
A stone inscribed with Sanskrit characters, said to be the origin of the name of Himonya, has been preserved.
The shrine was built in 1674, rebuilt in 1872, and reconstructed in 1887.
