Sue Town Museum of History
This is a pioneering museum that opened in 1973 (Showa 48), the first of its kind in Kyushu as a town-run institution.
The exhibits include Buddhist statues from Kenshoji Temple (Heian period), Takatorii Castle (medieval period), ophthalmology-related materials from the doctors to the Fukuoka daimyos, Sue pottery produced in porcelain kilns used by the Fukuoka domain (early modern period), and materials related to the coal mines (modern period), as well as excavated archaeological materials, nostalgic household utensils, and toys from the Showa period that will make you smile.
From archaeological artifacts to nostalgic daily tools and toys from the Showa period that will make you smile, there are many things on display that tell the story of the history of life in Sue Town.
