Sekkeiji Temple
The Sekkeiji Temple is the 33rd temple of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
It is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi between 810 and 823.
After temporary decline, under the patronage of Motoyoshi Chosokabe the temple was converted to the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
After Motochika's death, his son Morichika designated the temple as his father's family temple and renamed it Kofukuzan Sekkiji temple, after Motochika's Buddhist name.
There is a tomb of Nobuchika, the eldest son of Motochika Chosokabe.
The temple also holds a statue of Buddha by the Buddhist master Unkei and his son Tankei, which has been designated a national important cultural property.
