Hachibuseyamanishimine Kofun
This is located on a ridge extending far westward from Mt. Hachibuse in the eastern part of the city.
This burial mound was built in the Asuka period, and its burial chamber was intended for receiving a yokoguchi-style sekkaku (a stone sarcophagus with a side entrance) made of aesthetically hewn stone.
It is said to have been the burial place of a nobleman of the Asuka period.
Below, the Osaka Plain spreads out to the west, and this is a good place to have a sweeping view of the Furuichi area of the World’s Heritage Site Mozu–Furuichi Kofun Group, including the Ojin-tenno-ryo Kofun, scattered throughout Habikino City.
