Konda Hachimangu Shrine
This is a Hachimangu shrine dedicated to Emperor Ojin, Emperor Chuai, and Empress Jingu, and also to Sumiyoshi no Okami, the deity of Sumiyoshi. Emperor Ojin has been passionately worshiped by the people of the Kawachi area for safe delivery and for warding off bad luck, and as an ancestor worshiped as the god of commerce and industry, learning, and the arts.
In 1196 (Kenkyu 7), the main building and other structures were restored by Minamoto no Yoritomo.
The portable shrine in gilt bronze with mother-of-pearl inlay on gold-dusted lacquer ground donated on that occasion is designated as a national treasure.
Every year on September 15, an autumn festival is held, and the Owatari, a procession of portable shrines carried to the embankment of the Ojin-tenno-ryo Kofun, has been handed down to the present day.
