Tuboi Hachimangu Shrine
The shrine came into being as follows. Minamoto no Yoritomo, on his way to battle in the Zenkunen War, paid a visit to Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine with his son Yoshiie to pray for victory in the war.
As he was able to distinguish himself in military exploits, he established the shrine in 1064 (Kohei 7) to enshrine the God Hachiman as a token of gratitude.
Known as the deity of the Kawachi Genji clan, the area around Tuboi Hachimangu Shrine was the headquarters of the Kawachi Genji clan, as the Tuboi Gongen Shrine is located within the precincts of the shrine, where the vengeful spirits of Yorinobu, Yoriyoshi, and Yoriie were enshrined by Yoshitoki, the son of Yoshiie.
A giant camphor tree, said to be 1,000 years old, towers majestically over its precincts.
It has been designated as a natural monument of Osaka Prefecture.
