The Statue of Seated Dainichi Nyorai
The Statue of Seated Dainichi Nyorai was enshrined in the Rendaiji temple.
This statue was built from cypress trees using the yosegi-zukuri technique (assembled from separate pieces of wood), and it has a height of 1.14 meters; lacquer was applied on its surface and then it was covered with gold leaves.
It is designated as an important tangible cultural asset by the government.
The work was created in the early Kamakura period, characterized by the statue’s gentle and round face.
