Enjoy a coffee break in a gassho-zukuri house

The village of Suganuma contains nine gassho-zukuri houses, and people still live there today.
It's a small village, but here you can enjoy the unspoiled natural scenery of Japan, and also visit several historic and traditional facilities such as the Gokayama Folklore Museum, which displays everyday items from traditional Gokayama life, and Ensho-no-Yakata, where you can learn the history of the production of ensho (an ingredient of gunpowder), one of Gokayama's biggest industries, and experience using the matchlock guns that ensho was made for.
