A majestic building, as one would expect from a Shin Buddhist branch temple

This ancient temple was founded roughly 540 years ago by Rennyo, the 8th head priest of Hongan-ji.
Today, it is the Johana branch temple of Higashi Hongan-ji.
The temple has over 10,000 treasures in its collection, including tools, artworks, and documents, and some of these are on display, such as "Notes on 'Essentials of Faith Alone,'" written by the founder of Shin Buddhism, Shinran himself.
At the Mushiboshi Houe ritual, held every July, items connected to Rennyo and treasures donated by the Maeda family will be put on display, so it's a must-see!
