The intricate carvings are worth a look

Inami Betsuin Zuisenji Temple is the birthplace of Inami woodcarving.
The temple building is decorated with Inami woodcarving, which is said to be the best in Japan; everywhere you look, you will see carvings that are beautiful and delicate, yet bold and imposing.
But most impressive of all is the Taishi-do Hall, a building that is decorated with a variety of carvings, and seems to embody the very essence of Inami woodcarving.
The path to Zuisenji Temple is lined with woodcarving workshops, and the sounds of carvers' hammers and chisels ring out throughout the day.
The beautiful sounds along this street led to its designation as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan.
