60-foot-tall giant stone Buddha
A colossal rock measuring 64 meters tall.
The figure of Dainichi Nyorai (Cosmic Buddha) is carved into the cliff face by Kobo Daishi (a Buddhist monk who founded the Shingon school of Buddhism), who legends say completed it overnight.
A small cave called Daibigutsu was found on the top part.
The statue was designated a national historic site in February 1926.
