Castle floating above the clouds

Echizen Ono Castle was built over four years, beginning in 1576, by Nagachika Kanamori, a vassal of Oda Nobunaga.
It has since become a beloved symbol of Echizen Ōno.
Perched on Mount Kameyama (249 meters above sea level) in the city's center, the castle overlooks a historic town below. On days when the area is enveloped in a sea of clouds, Mount Kameyama seems to float above the clouds, creating the enchanting image of a "Castle in the Sky."
