Awagatake (Mountain)

Kakegawa City AWAGATAKE GIAHS Chagusaba Terrace

The 532-meter-high Mt. Awagatake has views overlooking vast, terraced tea fields developed using the chagusaba system, a traditional tea-grass integrated system that has been designated by the FAO as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
The one-hour hiking trail leading from the skirts of the mountain to its top, with views of tea fields and the flora and fauna of the region, is recommended.
