Panoramic Views of Karatsu City

Mt. Kagamiyama, standing at 284 meters, is one of the symbols of Karatsu City. From its summit, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Karatsu City, Niji no Matsubara, and Karatsu Bay.
The mountain, mentioned in the ancient poetry collection Manyoshu, is named after the mirror (kagami) that Empress Jingu is said to have enshrined at its peak. Additionally, there is a legend that Matsura Sayohime waved her scarf from the summit to bid farewell to Otomo no Sadehiko as he departed for Korea.
At the summit, there are viewing platforms, rest areas, and grassy spaces, allowing visitors to leisurely enjoy the scenery. On clear days, you can see not only the city but also the famous Niji no Matsubara, Karatsu Bay, and even the distant Iki Island.
The night view of Karatsu City is also beautiful, making it a popular dating spot. Additionally, the area is known for its cherry blossoms and azaleas, offering beautiful scenery throughout the seasons.
