A Hub of Karatsu’s Charm

Karatsu Furusato Kaikan Arpino is a facility that brings together the charms of Karatsu, offering various ways to "see," "learn," and "play." It is a beloved spot for both tourists and locals, providing everything from souvenirs and meals to cultural experiences.

The name "Arpino" is a coined term from the Spanish words ARCOIRIS (rainbow) and PINO (pine), symbolizing Niji no Matsubara (rainbow pine grove), a symbol of Karatsu, and the city tree "pine." Located conveniently near JR Karatsu Station, it is easily accessible to everyone.

On the first floor, the product exhibition and sales area offers a wide selection of Karatsu specialties and souvenirs. From Shouro Manju (bean paste buns) and Matsura-zuke (pickled fish) to Ika Shumai (squid dumplings), fresh seafood from the Genkai Sea, and traditional crafts like Karatsu ware, you can find a wide range of items. It is an ideal place for souvenir shopping. There is also a café corner on the first floor, where you can enjoy sweets and light meals made with local specialties, perfect for a break while shopping.

The second floor houses a comprehensive Karatsu ware exhibition, showcasing the history, culture, and various works of Karatsu pottery. It is a space where you can fully enjoy the charm of Karatsu ware. The covered courtyard is used as an event space, hosting various events that energize the community.
