Asama Jinja – Konohanasakuyahime-no-Mikoto
Asama Jinja enshrines Konohanasakuyahime-no-Mikoto as its principal deity.
The shrine was made a subsidiary branch of the shrine now known as Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha by order of Emperor Daigo in 901, which was during the Heian period (794~1185).
Initially, the shrine was called the “Shingu” (new shrine).
Asama Shrine is dedicated to Konohanasakuyahime-no-Mikoto, the god of Mt. Fuji, who is believed to assist with easy childbirth, conception, womanly virtues, and harmony.
